If you would like an open source, INSPIRE-compliant metadata editor right on your desktop, I am happy to announce that the latest release of GIMED is now available. You can download the install package here, or browse and download the source code from GitHub
GIMED, was originally developed by Angelos Tzotsos who did all the hard work as well! The only problem I saw from a usabilitity/installation perspective was that you also had to download FWTools to use its libraries so to calculate the extents of your data. Plus, there were two different projects one for Greek and one for English. All I did was to create a single project and create resource files for each language. I also used the DotSpatial libraries instead of FWTools ones.
So in a nutshell, to now install and run GIMED all you have to do is run the gimed_setup.exe And if you want to change languages just select the one you want from the Language drop-down. Job done!
